DNA SIG - Genealogical Proof Standards for Genetic Genealogists
AGENDA
Speaker - Shelby Meyer
Every day we make decisions about the reliability of information we are putting in our family trees; being aware of how these decisions are made can help us wade through some of the misinformation we routinely encounter. Shelby will discuss “Genealogical Proof Standards for Genetic Genealogists” addressing questions such as: what constitutes good DNA evidence and is a DNA match sufficient to constitute proof of kinship? He will also discuss how the five criteria of the Genealogical Proof Standard apply to DNA, privacy considerations and DNA citation considerations.

The second half is a planned topic of the month and discussion of DNA developments. The DNA SIG meets virtually on the first Saturday of the month from 9:30AM-11:30AM. Both beginner and experienced topics are covered in an informal setting each month.
